I took the sign today to a local school zone where the police like to set up a revenue generation trap. I was set up around a curve where the state revenue agents couldn’t see me. After about 10 minutes, I guess someone who was disappointed that their family and neighbors weren’t being issued enough $300 tickets must have informed the revenue agents about my activities. One of the agents came on his motorcycle to check on what I was doing. I parked in a private parking lot and only a few other vehicles parked there. He looked around the parking lot for a minute, then picked a vehicle he suspected to be mine. I videoed him as he wrote down the license plate number. He then rode by me on his way back to extort money from motorists and told me, “Thank you.” In Texas it is legal to warn drivers about speed traps, and since I wasn’t doing anything against that violated any State rules, the best he could do was to try to intimidate me. I guess by copying down a license plate number they are trying to tell me, “We know who you are!” Hey, I’m just a guy trying to keep the kids safe by getting motorists to slow down, and you don’t have to pay me $300 for each one that complies. See how well a voluntarist society works?
